Let's start with the biggest news: the head injury. Or, with our record being what it is, perhaps I should specify...the MOST RECENT head injury. This one was darn icky. Pretty much off-the-charts icky. I won't go into details, but basically Ben fell from a standing position on top of the toilet into the bathtub, where his brow bone made contact with the bathtub ledge and ripped his little head open. Fast forward to a big ugly bruise and two layers of stitches. I'm absolutely amazed that he wasn't knocked unconscious. Now for some photos of the big event:
Here it is a few minutes after it happened. I got the bleeding to stop long enough to snap a picture (humorous side note: after reading this post, a friend of mine asked me, "So you made him pose for a picture during his traumatic event?" When I answered in the affirmative, he replied, "And you don't see any problem with that?" This made me LOL) What kind of a mom would I be if I didn't think ahead? He's going to want this for posterity.
Here he is at the hospital, after mom's miserably failed super glue attempt.
Below, we see how a head wound looks when a mommy blatently ignores the "do NOT try this at home" warnings.
Isn't this rag totally gross...and totally COOL? I took it with me as my "get into the ER quicker" ticket. I figured if they saw my nasty, bloody rag, the nurses' sense of urgency would be severely heightened at the sight of all that blood. Hey, you laugh, but my diabolical scheme worked. I was in -n- outta there in 4 hours. So there.
And finally, here's what a gaping head wound looks like AFTER it's been neatly and professionally sutured by a trained physician.
Now, some random stuff...
Look at these cuties enjoying their pizza.
We made a gingerbread house. It's much cuter if you look at it like you'd look at one of those Magic Eye books. Just let it go blurry and you won't even notice the details.
Tiny Lucas gets his very first ever salon cut! No more chop jobs from Mommy!
And another first...a REAL LIVE tree on top of the mini-van. Never done that before. Kids love it.
Just a random shot of my little twin nephews Jack n Henry sitting in my computer chair. I just want to eat them up.
Now, last, but certainly not least, the cutting room floor Christmas card pictures. I'm keeping you in suspense because of course, these are the ones that did NOT make the Christmas card cut. That one is coming soon to a mailbox near you. These are a few of the ones that weren't quite up to snuff, but I still think they're cute 'cause my kids are in them.
My apologies about some of these photos. Some were taken with my phone camera. Thank goodness for phone cameras.
